Grass Sledging
A bonus to having a campsite on a hill is that you can run, roll and sledge down from the top! Grass sledges are effectively sledges with caterpillar tracks which makes sliding down the slope a lot easier. Race against the rest of the group or just have fun looking at the view on the way down. Need more of a thrill to go faster? I’m sure a leader will volunteer to be the packhorse, for a fair return of course!
Instructors
This activity is generally self run by the groups own leaders, but the site will provide an instructor if you require help to begin with.
Age
This activity is suitable for anyone below Scout and Guide age.
Location
The sledges and safety equipment can be found outside the container next to the shower block at the beginning of the day. The activity runs at the top of the hill down the left hand side of the field.
Numbers
We own 5 grass sledges in total so a maximum of 15 is recommended for an hour.
